TG 7.9 Supreme Anyone who has boated in Howe Sound is likely familiar with the powerful Squamish winds that funnel down the sound. For those who aren’t, these are cold outflow winds that pour out of the interior of British Columbia and accelerate down into Howe Sound, typically near Squamish. These winds are one of the defining local systems on the South Coast with speeds often reaching 20 to 40 knots, sometimes exceeding 50. READ MORE |

RVYC Women’s Invitational 2026 Three years ago, Tammy Danforth raced a J70 as tactician in Hamburg, Germany, and changed the course of women’s sailing in BC. She didn’t win the Helga Cup, the world’s largest all-female regatta, but she left with a prize nonetheless—a collaborative idea to create an annual women’s invitational at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club (RVYC) to showcase female sailors and bridge the gap for young women graduating from junior sailing programs. Sailing ShortsMojito Wins La Coupe du Québec, NorthStar SailGP Team 2nd in Germany, R2K – a Tough One  Skipper Vince Somoza and the crew of Mojito (Nepean Sailing Club) took first place at La Coupe du Québec hosted by the Pointe-Claire Yacht Club this past weekend. Eriks Kalvins and the crew of Black Pearl (Ashbridge’s Bay Yacht Club) took 2nd place, while John Rae and the crew of ShinDig (Nepean Sailing Club) took 3rd. Only one point separated the top 3 boats.
