Message From The Editor
I miss my boat
Peace on Earth is the message of the season but it appears somewhat out of reach these days, particularly this week which has been particularly brutal on the news front. The whole year has been pretty unwatchable, but since Monday – OMG!
This may be worse than normal but there’s always something nasty going on. However, on the boat, I can leave the tv off so the news wouldn’t find me with the horrible news that we are currently enduring. When I am aboard, there’s always someone around to talk small. On Wednesdays, there’s racing. On the weekends a cruise or an event or something else distracting.

Hybrid Tow/Luxury Bowrider – the Chaparral 26 Surf
I’ll admit that having the best of both worlds has always sounded too good to be true. I’ve been around the industry long enough that I’m naturally sceptical of a vessel that claims mastery over two fields of boating. But I wanted to be proven wrong, and almost immediately was. The Chaparral Surf 26 began making its point the moment I saw it. Its stylish design stood out remarkably on the shop floor...

Ask Andrew
Below the waterline off-season checks – Part 1
The boat is out. It’s resting comfortably at the club, marina, storage yard, or driveway. Winterizing is done. It’s protected with shrink-wrap, a tarp or a custom cover. Mechanically and physically, she’s been put to bed for the winter. So, now what? Take this time to review all the stuff that you can’t see when the boat is in the water.

Antigua & Barbuda — The Perfect Chartering Destination
We all have a unique image we hold in our minds when we dream of blue water chartering—white sand, palm trees, azure seas, taught sails (or the comforting thrum of a motor if you’re motor enthusiast). You can’t sail Antigua’s shores or wander its hills without engaging in its history. Nelson’s Dockyard, located in the perfectly sheltered English Harbour...

Canadian Boat Builders are Motivated
From Muskoka: Morning John, Thanks for your brief article today re: Canadian boat builders. Its unfortunate that most larger CDN builders have disappeared, losing the market to lower-labour cost builders in Kentucky, Florida etc. Some smaller specialty builders remain, Rossiter in Ontario comes to mind.
